“There Are Saga Seeds In Our Pockets!” (Ada Biji Saga Di Dalam Saku Kami!) is a bilingual English-Malay children’s picture book which was launched on 21 November 2016 at The Pod, National Library Board. This book is co-funded by the National Heritage Board and Ungu Pen.

It comes with a read-along and sing-along CD-ROM with English and Malay narration of the story, including a specially composed museum song in both languages and in minus-one that will delight young children and teach them about museum etiquette.

This book is written by Singaporean Maria Mahat and illustrated by watercolour artist Idris Ali. It lets you discover a snapshot of Singapore’s history, the Malay heritage and culture, creativity and even numeracy! There are many themes to explore such as Malay’s traditional clothings, games, food, the Malay Heritage Centre and Sultan Mosque, among others. It also brings back some memories of yesteryears and a good bonding book betwen the old and the young, and children of mixed marriages.

This book is available for purchase online here and at Ungu Pen’s pop-up events and bookstores in Singapore.
